Howzit Guys,
well I finally got started on the Rebuild on my bike, The budget constraints are forcing me to do the rebuild over 2 months so the bike just stood since Feb.
Last weekend I took out the motor and started to check what I would need.
here is a list of required parts/things to do so far
1. Timing Chain tensioner Front Cylinder - the whole arm is worn away where the tensioner pushes against it,
2. New Rings
3. Head Gaskets base gaskets
4. Need to Repair Stator as coils are loose, - this was done by wicked Rides 6 months ago, I'm not happy that the coils look burnt and the varnish is not holding the coils together.
5. Sump Plug needs to be retapped as the threads are stripped (I bought the bike like this 3 years ago - not the reason the oil leaked out)
6. Timing Chains will be replaced as it looks like a kak job with the motor in so these will be replaced while I'm at it.
7. Valve Clearances - will also do this while the motor is out and accessible.
8. Crank repair - the crank was slightly worn on Piston Conrod 1 and we have machined this and fitted new Bearings
My Father in law has access to all the engineering tools a kid like me could wish for so at least engineering costs are free.
We measured the Crank and found the OD to be 45mm same as a Honda Ballade so we ordered oversize Honda Ballade big end bearings and cut the crank and conrods to match using the Suzuki Factory service manual for the correct clearance etc.
So now the Bike will be part Honda :thumleft:
The rest of the parts have been ordered from Suzuki Honeydew, total Cost so far is around R5500 which I will split over the next 2 months.
So End of May I will have my baby back
