The Walkerville rangers & Friends wish to Thank Dean & Ronnie from DNA Motorcycles https://www.dnamotorcycles.co.za/catalog/ for the 2x sponsored bikes, which were taken through their paces this past weekend.

DNA Motorcycles celebrated their 10th Anniversary on Saturday 2009/08/29 at their premises Show Room : Clearview Village, Corner Hendrik Potgieter and Gordon Road, Florida Glen, Gauteng Tel: +27 (0) 11 472 6434.

The bikes were lined up for the testing at the workshops of Doctor KLR in Walkerville and our friends joined us for the exciting day planned. Professional riders, amateurs and those just eager to ride arrived early in the morning for the obligatory cup of coffee under the marque provided by DNA Motorcycles.

Now here is an interesting modification to Clint’s bike. It’s the latest designed Kill Switch. Marco is taking Clint to the bike to demonstrate the correct manner of switching off a bike when you decide to drop it in a hurry.
C06.jpg

Strategically mounted in full view of the rider, the obligatory big yellow knob, with very red button, which gets depressed, when you need to cut your motor in a hurry.
Clint gets the idea and has a practice run to “KILL SWITCH”
C07.jpg

Our last run in Barberton, saw Clint’s bike attack him when he hit the ground. Someone, forgot to “Kill Switch” and the spinning bike and back tyre took a good chunk from Clint’s riding pant and arse.
C08.jpg

So… don’t worry Clint, it’s easy and with enough practice, you will soon learn to push down the red round button on the yellow box.  It’s now your official “KILL SWITCH”, when you stop your bike, before it bites you on your arse again.

The big parade for the DNA Motorcycles Sponsored ride.

Marco’s pride and joy, new toy, which he dragged back from Barberton. Doctor KRL, put it together, had it sprayed, spayed and added some obligatory KLR cable ties. The KLX 300. The expression on Marco’s face when riding his new bitch, says it all. “I’ll never have sex again, while this baby is between my legs”
Sounds strange I know, but then again, what is normal.

KTM smoking the place up.
C14.jpg

Jay, looking some-what intimidating while riding.
C15.jpg

No. 7 .. reminds me of Jack Daniels, crossing a rather rocky terrain on Doctor KLR’s property in Walkerville.

1st Rider up on DNA’s 450. James parked his BMW GS 650 F for a ride on a real bike. Spoilt with a BMW electric start, he found it a rather strange task to have to kick start a bike. And kick he did, very often as he stalled the bike. I guess changing over from a BMW straight onto the Kawa, required a bit of skill and time to adapt to the variances of the two bikes. But his feedback was, he was scared on the power produced by the 450, in comparison to his BMW 650. Let’s just say “No competition”.

Justin Deares, on his newly built up KLX 300. This boy rides hard and fast and is a champion on circuit.

Again a big Thank You to Dean & Ronnie and their fantastic Team at DNA Motorcycles for sponsoring the bikes, which never failed to amaze even the most veteran riders on the day. The next series of photo’s were produced by James as Cono had to attend family affairs back home in the concrete jungle.

Marco’s brand new KLX 300, built up from scraps by Doctor KLR.

The Hide Away Pub & Restaurant in Walkerville. A great place to clear the dust from your goggles, before getting down to some serious riding.
J04.jpg

And serious riding, is found on the Ski Slope. Here’s Clint trying something different.. OK, he kinda lost his line a slipped under the trees. There was no need to use “The Kill Switch”
J05.jpg

J06.jpg

It’s those DNA Motorcycles Kawasaki 450’s doing the photo thingy at the top of the Ski Slope.

J08.jpg

As luck would have it, a ride without a puncture is not a ride. Clint’s skills were tested when he needed to change a flat.
J09.jpg

The KLX 650 minus front wheel. What a sight. Again Clint was rather upset for having the puncture as he had still not had a chance to use his new “Kill Switch”.
J10.jpg

Again, that powerful KLX 450 R, which can be purchased from DNA Motorcycles.

And then tragedy struck Mike, The KTM decided she was tired, so No. 545 Orange KTM, did what any self respecting KTM would do. He asked his KLR 650 buddies for a tow. Doctor KLR on the left clearly now in his element. He had a bike to tow back to his workshop and perhaps even convert the KTM into a real bike. Mike on the far right, raising his hand and clearly indicating for the world to see “ Kawasaki KLR 650, your number one, in all aspects including the towing of broken down “all models”.
J12.jpg

J13.jpg

Mike again giving the one finger “KLR650, you’re the best” salute, while being towed home.
J14.jpg

Back home, the boys sit down to relax and share their exciting ride reports about how the bikes which was sponsored by DNA Motorcycles handled in comparison to their own BMW’s KTM, Suzuki’s and all that.

The final response is a confirmed “ It’s In Your Blood ”

A BIG thanks to Ronnie and Dean @ DNA,thoose KLX450;s  were awsome. These small/big monsters were killers-up and down the mountains, through mud monsters and flying down the open savanas.AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hopefully we can convince DNA to let us take one on our EPIC PENGE ride[the old Voortrekker route over the Drakensberg to Mozambique] end of September-Glen Foley from Dirt and Quad is going to do an article in his magazine November/December edition.

Well when you put it that way, there is no wonder that us KTM and BMW riders sabatage our bikes just before the ride

You boys are getting old, those 450's aren't at the top of the ski slope. Is that KLR territory only??

The 450's definetly went over the top of the lip and then certain posers wanted their photo's taken in a more scenic location.
That was Justin and Doctor KLR [show-off's]

So, while we are busy with reports, please provide you report.
When are you going to get off your crutches ???
When are you going to ride again ???
When will you be getting your new bike ???
What bike have you decided on ??? [Don't forget the memories your old KLR brought you]

Can't write a report, the ride ain't finished yet!
Off crutches, fook knows when! 2,3,4 weeks??
Will be riding as soon as I finish the brackets for my crutches!
No new bike, gonna bling the KLR, starting with proper fooking suspension!!
No point in buying a new bike, all I'll do is ride faster and fall harder.
My thing has always been to make the KLR do what those expensive jobbies do

Now here is a dedicated KLR Owner .. come on Kawasaki SA, sponsor some of that bling he wants and get the man back up and riding again.

@ Cracker ... remind me to to put "green" tinsel around your front wheel spokes. That's some lekker bling.  :imaposer:

Get well soon and if we don't see you in 3 to 4 weeks time, don't be surprised, if some how, somewhere, we show up to take you out for a ride.
