DS Bikes with spoked or alloy Wheels ?

I would like some imput as to whether a Dual Sport Bike should have spoked wheels or Alloy Wheels. I was allways under the impression for Dirt roads spoked wheels were the way to go. KTM and BMW have a been using spoked wheels since day one on all there DS Bikes as far as i recall. What about the new DS bikes that are on the market ? Are they still DS bikes ?
