DS kit for my 8 year old son (I need advice or secondhand gear)

I need to buy some gear for for son. We are going on a trip and need to add some protection to his small body.
I do not want to spend allot of money as he will outgrow it in a few months. I'm looking at second hand stuff or stuff on special somewhere.

Anyone selling or seen specials or ideas for alternatives to MX kits
