One specific block on the pattern developed a bulge / bump right around the front tyre..
Dunlop SA informed me that this is a result of running the the tyre pressure too low ( 2.2 kpi cold), and to up the pressure - no danger of failure...
What do you think?
Your tyre has done very well!
Any tyre with an off-road tread pattern would develop some kind of uneven wear on some blocks at 30000km .
The exact shape of the uneven wear depends on the shape of the individual block and the shape of it's neighbours.
The fact that the pattern is all round the tyre = uneven wear on tread pattern >> tyre still safe against sudden failure.
If the bump was on one block or in a single area, then it is dangerous because it could indicate an air bubble under the rubber, ie leaking casing .
I think Dunlop SA is probably correct with "too low" pressure, but I think 2.2bar is not too low.
And I agree with Dunlop that your tyre is in no danger of failure.
I do think that the grip is not-so-good anymore and the tyre could be being very noisy.
This alone may prompt many a rider to replace the tyre.
I have the same tyres on my bike. On tar (commuting) I ride 2.3bar front and 2.7bar at the back.
Now, at about 10000km, I do not yet see any pattern developing.
They were reasonably quiet when new. These days I can hear them singing around 80/100km/h (same as with the EO7)
