Easter Weekend - Not a RR

The wind is pumping bigtime. Yesterday we were housebound but only because we wanted to be! Nice to light a fire & just chill. Read a book & chat to daughter.
We had boating bootcamp again & she is getting more confident at piloting the skuitjie. Its not all about flattening the throttle girl!
We often go away together so she must be able to handle the boat under emergency situations.
There is also a few pics of the boat that reputedly first took Nelson Mandela to Robben Island. The Berg River has an interesting history....sailboats used to come up here to pick up grain in the old days. Clearly it was not as silted up as now!

Just went up the river & out the mouth to take some random shots. Note the right bank(farmers land) where his buds have set up temporary camps along the bank. It's the best side as the prevailing SE klaps the back of their structures. In contrast are the multi-million rand boats & houses on the left bank going into Port Owen.
The first pic is looking into the mouth & the fishing industry...the Eigelaars own the town & everything in it...

Went a couple kms out to sea to check out the guys fishing & came across this lovely sight....fresh pilchards & sardines! These are hardcore fisherman & the working conditions on these boats, and bigger, begs belief!

Its water boet...yes you can wakeboard! In fact just upriver by the 'island' is a spot where they have skiing & wakeboard competitions...
