Got this idea while looking at the bike jack picture that RobC posted.
The idea is not foolproof, but I've decided to get myself one (or perhaps two?) of those ratchet straps (tie - down straps) and add it to my toolkit. I've often wondered how I'd be able to hold the KLR upright while taking off a tyre if I should get a puncture in the field, and I think I'm getting an idea.
Riding around Gauteng there is usually a lekker big tree nearby, and by tying one end of the strap around a branch and then using the ratchet to lift the bike I think I might be able to get the bike safely off the ground, instead of using the "Many rocks under the bike" method.
Any thoughts?
