First Bike in a loooooooong time

Hi guys, I am 28 now and I last had a DT125 in highchool, so I have very limited riding experinece...  I want to get into dualsport touring and reaaly like the 990 adventure. I will be doing far rides (namibia etc) and commuting to work somedays and 2-up comfort is important to.... so I think the bike choice is ok, My question is........ how is the 990 to learn on ? ? ?  I am not windgat so I will take it easy in the beginning.... With the second hand bike prices iin SA I will lose allot if i make the wrong choice..
