Pack Dog
Owned a blue and white one for about 3 years and 60k km….best car I even owned, miss it every day. Had to get something bigger because of the space issues as mentioned above, as had a kid on the way and two big dogs to lug around regularly. If not for that I would still have it.
Proper no-nonsense 4x4, and perfect for two people. With decent tyres it will take you where you need to go offroad. Monster in the sand and tows really well if that’s your thing.
Yes, it has a bit of a drinking problem…par for the course with the V6. Averaged around 7.5km/l. Best was 9km/l (by some miracle) and worst 4km/l towing in river beds. If you can look at post-2012 with the dual tanks and crawl control. The single tank model will only get you 400ish k’s between refills and that becomes a frustration on longer trips.
Mine use to hunt while cruising at slightly above legal limits and would kick down dramatically if you hit a steep pass…solution was just to anticipate it and knock the gearleaver into manual mode, which made it shift down a single ratio vs the auto kickdown.
You will chip/break windscreens eventually and it is poperly wide so the sides scratch on the trails, but ownership was 100% trouble free.
Put the traction control off in the rain and itritate your wife by going sideways
my wife said I was infantile when driving it.
