My Garmin Nuvi lighter plug stopped working, and I couldn’t find a replacement. Since the Nuvi plug is a standard mini-USB, I got a Motorola cell phone charger which is also mini-USB. The Garmin’s cable plug makes a 90 degree bend, while the Motorola is straight. I need the Garmin cable’s 90 degree bend for it to fit in the GPS’s Ram-mount, so I cut the two cables thinking I could join the Garmin’s 90 degree mini-USB plug on the Motorola charger cable.
Then I discovered that the Garmin cable has 2 wires (inner and outer, no colours), and the Motorola has 3 (red, blue, and bare copper).
What must I connect to what? I don’t want to toast my GPS.
