GS1100 Neutral Light issue

Since I purchased the old girl a few months ago there has only been one simple issue that can be very frustrating.....she will erratically not show the neutral light when switching the ignition on which means no starting, after a fiddle the light eventually shines and she starts right up. What can be done to repair or even disable the system(1999 model)
