I dropped my bike (XT660Z) on the weekend, nothing serious, just over balanced while stationary on sloping tar and held it up as it went over till I couldn't hold it anymore falling the last 50cm, so a pretty soft fall, with the result of a very minor scuff on the bar weights, a small chip on the kappa crash bars, and a slightly bent rear brake lever (and very doff embarrassed look and sore hamstring). I did notice on the rest of the ride that the alignment of the handle bars seemed to be slightly out by a couple of centimeters. Now this is a new bike so it is possible that it was always like this and just didn't notice it before, as I really haven't ridden it that much yet, or the forks have shifted in the triple clamp or bars bent slightly. It really isn't obvious that the alignment is out when you look at it nor do the bars look bent, just noticeable when riding in a straight line that one hand seems slightly further forward than the other.
Has anyone else experienced this, and is it possible to bump it out of alignment from such a "soft" fall. I would take it in to the dealer to look at but it is a bit of a schlep given that I live out in the far south peninsula! It it easy to correct (being new to biking a bit nervous to start mucking about with the suspension), and will this effect the seals etc if ridden. Certainly there was no noticeable effect on handling.
I would welcome comment from more experienced WD's.
Just one other comment, the brake leaver seemed really easy to bend out by hand! Bit surprised by that ???
