To all those out there that have a non OEM header without a Cat and either the OEM can or an aftermarket can.

Before I go ahead and end up with remorse, I have read various reports regarding the fitting of aftermarket headers on the 1200 GS & A or 1150 and so on. Some lab tests with varoius manufacturers confirmed that some systems caused a loss of power whilst others were simply transferring power and torque from one range of the band to another. Yes, some systems gained 4-6 HP on the OEM but at top end predominantly.

I have ridden my GSA for over a month now and in all honesty was my first BMW having ridden Jap two strokes in the past.
I have found that the gearing on the GSA is geared high and that 6th gear is great for touring and consumption etc however urban riding i find i'm changing down often to stay in the torque band before the boxer starts moaning at me.

So the question i ask you all without this thread turning into a slugging competition as to what system is the best etc, all i want to know is does the aftermarket header make that much of a difference to the driveability, are there surge problems, popping problems without the backpressure from the cat etc, what is she like offroad if the throttle response is smoother as some have claimed. Is the design of the header important, some have an balancing pipe fitted and others don't etc

Looking forward to some honest comments, good or bad.
