hella male/cigarette lighter female GPS conversion

The name of this thread is a bit lame but it sort of describes my query: want to mount GPS, neem female cigarette lighter plug, that either connects to hella plug on GS1150, or directly to battery. Which is best and why? Should I add fuse? Where can I get what I need in JHB? And if someone can please explain the how to. I did search, didn't found all I need to know. Thx..pics welcome
