Good day all Forumers,

Thank you Mr Funacide for putting me on air! Herewith my first posting, mainly to introduce myself to you all.
It was a pleasant surprise when I bumped into this Forum during one of my recent lunch time surfs through the virtual 2-wheel community. I immediately fealt at home to a great extent - so many names I have also encountered on some other (less attractive) SA biking forums, so many nice stories to read, photos to check out, etc. The best of cause is that almost everything is about things, places and people here on the home front! Well done! I see that I have a lot of reading to catch up with. Well, I have registered straight away and I have adopted the name of "Doringboom" (thorn tree) for the purpose of my future participation in this Forum.
I work and live in Pretoria for 14 years now. I am from Upington originally. Of the 14 years of being a Gautenger I am (mainly) a weekend motorcyclist for the last 11 years. I took delivery of my third motorcycle only two weeks ago - a brand new Triumph Tiger. My first two motorcycles had been a Kawa KLE500 (bought second hand) and a Suzuki GSX750F (bought new). I have had excellent service out of both of them and sold them in still perfect running condition, but in case of both the "gatjeuk" for something new, something different got the better of me at the end of the day! I am still in the process of "finding my identity" with the Tiger though. I have never been a serious off-roader, explorer or adventure rider of any note, but the Tiger is just such a comfortable, easy riding motorcycle that it immediately caught my attention. (Do I hear noises from the GS crowd? :roll: )
At the moment I am still running the Tiger in. Yesterday Wino, Blouvark and I had a very nice rideabout in the Skeerpoort / Magaliesburg area. (See Wino?s invitation for this elsewhere on this Forum.) Thank you guys ? it was a great introductory ride for me. For next month I plan on going to the Rhino Rally and from there onwards via the "Hoogland" route to Bloemfontein and then to Upington to visit my people there.
Thank you for allowing me some space to state my case in brief. Maybe this Forum will result in my involvement in more serious motorcycling in general.
Finally, something of interest: I have been a Forum member of the Dutch GSXF (virtual) Club for about two and a half years while still having my Suzuki. I made a number of postings in Afrikaans and amongst others I also included photos of a trip to the Katse Dam and of my trip to attend this year's Buffalo Rally. The Hollanders treated me very kindly and I had some real interesting comments from and conversations with quite a number of the Club members. Een erg leuke spul die Hollanders tog!
