My wife and 2 kids are going to Bloem, Matric Farewell thing there, I'm not going with.
I'm alone this Weekend, and everyone is begging me to get on the bike and just bugger off somewhere.
So.......ja. Orders are Orders, hey??:ROFLMAO:
This is an unplanned, spur of the moment trippie, JUST like I like it.
Help me here - I'm trying to decide which direction to point the old GS's nose.
NO Highways, nice gravel, maybe a small/quiet tar section here and there.
Dunno where and how I'll stay, will sommer take the tentjie.
1) SOUTH..................down to Ficksburg/Ladybrand/Wepener etc etc??
Or to Bloem, visit/surprise the Fam there (but then its not really this "trippie with a tentjie")
2) East - KZN Midlands?? (But been there many times, and planning a trip there anyway later this year)
3) West - Winburg/Hoopstad?? Dunno those areas
4) Up North, I see NICE gravel travel up to Heilbron, and from there maybe up to Deneysville/Vaal River/Heidelberg, maybe even further to Delmas or thereabouts?? Or is Gauteng South a kak idea??
I'm inclined towards (4) above, there are some VERY nice gravel travel up to Heilbron/Deneysville. Dunno where to stay though, but there should be camping spots somewhere??
Will have to decide, not the exact spot/place, but which wind direction.
??

If you decide on Deneysville/Vaal/Heidelberg, I can meet up and join you somewhere, also have a bed available with clean sheets, bugger the "tentjie"

Thanks a MILL Man, but that tentjie is sort of part of my trippie. With the gasstofie and bekertjie and so on.
That area - nice for a short trippie, or not really?? Lekker roads??

A lot of gravel, dusty at the moment, some scenic sections all surrounded by farms, nothing challenging, the gravel roads from Standerton to Villiers are always nice, Deneysville a bit of a shithole

Bethlehem to Heilbron is nice gravel, even up to Deneysville.
But where to from there?? Vaal/Vanderbijl area - looks a bit kakkas??
Otherwise maybe east from Heilbron, Heidelberg/Delmas area sort of thing.
Lesotho also an option, but I dunno if the best of ideas, alone on that heavy GS.
Or then Bethlehem - Harrismith, then North to fucknowswhere.

Vaal area you can shoot to Parys/Vredefort/Potch some nice riding in that area
If you need a camping spot near Heidelberg try Sionsberg (Clarice 078 855 3153) at the foot of Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve

How about planning some dirt farm roads past Vaal dam, Parys and then find a spot in the Vredefort crater area ?
