I am the happy owner of one of these lovely helmets - I truelly think it is an excellent helmet, having also the CL12 - also a lekka helmet.
The visor gear plate of the CL12 has never given me trouble.
The one on the CL-Max is different to the CL12 and is a little finicky when taking the visor off and especially putting it back - there is a tiny plastic part that holds the visor in place and if you do not treat it with respect it has the tendency to break.
This means you must replace the base plate (but can get by without it if you do not open the visor too beeg). No-one seems to stock the base plate in Cape Tyowun but "can order it for you".
A bit of advice: the CL14 and AC11 have the same visor/base plate kit as the CL-Max.
Purely by chance I was talking to Gus at Craigs in Parow about the kit and he did the "moeite" to check and actually had stock - which I bought - obviously.
