Over the years, Honda has become a global phenomenon.  The Japanese company produces a very wide spectrum of products ranging from cars, jets, power equipment, engines and of course motorcycles.  And, the number of motorcycles the company has built is staggering.

400 million bikes
On December 19th, 2019 the company celebrated the production of its 400,000,000th (four hundred million) bike.  They reached this amazing feat after 70 years of producing motorcycles/scooters.  That means that on average, Honda produced approximately 5.7 million bikes a year since it’s inception.  No matter how you cut it, that’s a lot of bikes.

Milestones
Founded in 1948, Honda first started motorcycle mass production outside of Japan in 1963.  That factory was located in Belgium.  Since then, Honda globally produces two-wheelers in 35 facilities in 25 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

In producing 400 bikes, Honda had several milestones along the way.  It took 48 years for Honda to reach its 100 million milestone.  That was in 1997.  Only 17 years later, in 2014, Honda reached the production of 300 million bikes.  And now that it is 2019, Honda is celebrating the production of a further 100 million bikes to reach its 400 millionth bike milestone.

According to Takahiro Hachigo, Hond Motor Co. Ltd’s Chief Executive Officer:

“For 70 years Honda has provided to customers worldwide motorcycles that make life easier and enjoyable. As a result, we have achieved our 400 million-unit milestone. I am grateful to all of our customers, and everyone involved in development, manufacturing, sales and service of our products. We will continue to do our best to provide attractive products that meet the needs and dreams of customers worldwide
