My 2008 KLR is/was one of the oil guzzlers. At 15000 km it was at the dreaded 1liter/1000km mark. My open road speed is 110 km/h
At 18000km I had the engine overhauled at the dealer. When they opened & stripped the engine, they found the valve seats to be badly pitted and the valves also in a sorry state. This was renewed
The oil consumption is a known problem, and from what I hear, the re-bore should fix that problem. But why the valves !?
Add to this the Doohickey threat, hence my question : How durable is a KLR ?
My confidence in the Kwacker is very low. I think it lives on borrowed time in my garage
Comment from the experts please
