How to make an old plastic tank look good again?

So I got myself an XLR 250 to finally learn how to ride sand. It came with a 18l long range tank. The tank is made of plastic and quite stained. I do not want to restore the bike or make it prestine but the tank starts bugging me (Corona lock down syndrome). Any suggestions? I want to remember to have read somewhere that fuel fumes seep through the plastic so paint will bubble and wrapping it will bubble as well? Thank you for your input, Cheers Lars
