After having to sell the GSA end of last year for financial reasons I have yearned to get back in the saddle.
Last week I came across an ad in the smalls for an XL500S at a decent price. After chatting to the seller a bit we concluded the deal. Only problem was that the bike was in Montagu (Cape) and I am in Pretoria (Gauteng). But Cocky came to the rescue, he was doing a trip with a bakkieand a trailer up to Pta, and he picked the bike up at the farm it was on and delivered it to Pretoria for me.
As I was still at work in Lesotho Cocky dropped it off at Sharingroads (Douglas) for me, where I collected it this morning. Unfortunately I only made it half-way home before I ran out of petrol. Fortunately its only two blocks... :ricky: The XL got its first push from me. Hopefully the last eepwall:
I had a quick look at the general condition of the bike. The motor starts easily, and pulls strongly. Cosmetically it needs a bit of work. And the electrics are pretty dodgy.
Anyway, I can't wait to get started on her, sorting her out and getting her back to her former glory. An old bat like thjis needs a bit of TLC and maybe a ****-job and a tummy-tuck.
Question... does anybody have a wiring diagram for me? and a simple explanation about how to go about conbverting the 6V to 12V?
She's a 1981 XL500S...
