Info neede on roads south of Lesotho in Eastern Cape / Natal

Planning a trip from Clarens around Lesotho and back.  My wife is used to riding her bike on tar but not comfortable on dirt.  We'll stick to the tar, next time we'll do the dirt roads.  Need some info about the quality of the roads south of Lesotho (list of towns below).  Any interesting places to visit.

The part that is unfamiliar to me is along the following towns:  Sterkspruit, Lady Grey, Barkly East, Elliot, Ugie, Mount Fletcher, Kokstad, Underberg.

I'll appreciate any input.
