I submitted a claim after I had an accident with my 990. The accident happened on a gravel road and the insurance wanted proof that the tyres fitted on my bike was approved by the manufacturer. WTF? This rule is not applicable on motorvehicles as far as I know.
They made sure the size, make and thread left was according to the manufactures specification.
The following was the criteria
Both tyres must be specified by the manufacturer as being OMF...
tyre tread left - 2mm
Both front and back must be the same make and model.
Luckely for me the claim was paid out, I had TKC's on the bike. The assessor immediately was suspicious about the knobbies but I had all the proof they were approved by KTM.
This was my insurance and I don't know if these rules apply to all insurance brokers, I suggest you find out and get in on paper.
