I know that the Dakar's front suspension is soft, and that many people replace the springs with progressive ones, e.g. from Touratech.

However, the amount of slight "bottom-outs" I've felt while owning it has left me wondering just how soft the springs are, or if my bike perhaps has a problem. Any pothole is a potential problem (yes, I know I should preferably steer around them!).

My bike has 11,000km on it, showed no issues in its recent 10,000km service, and hasn't had any crashes, jumps or the like (only normal LSTs - Low Speed Tumbles). The fork seals seem fine, as do the stanchions - smooth as a baby's bottom - with no visible oil leaks.

I weigh 68kg, so that's way below average.

What do the other Dakar riders say?
