I'm in two minds about this. I bought the bike last year to have a 650 scrambler and as an eventual project. I paid R9k, which I considered a bargain. It goes like stink, despite the fact that it smokes like a 2T and guzzles oil. It needs the top-end redone, but mainly valve stem seals and rings. I knew this when I bought it. Still gives the factory spec 19km/l.
I did two trips with the bike on the Baviaans Side-entry and I can assure you it is a red route weapon. The suspension was crappy so I upgraded it with the "R" enduro suspension which cost me R3 998.00... Wilbur progessive's front and gas adjustable shock in the rear.
As part of my rebuild plans I ordered a Acerbis 18L long range tank for it, of which I'm still awaiting delivery. R3 600.00
I've spent more money on other stuff, but would like to recover the above capital costs. You get value for money. If you're not bothered by the cosmetics, I reckon another R10k will see it mechanically sorted and ready for many more trips. Parts are readily available and if you live close enough to DOCTOR KLR, that you can go pay and collect your parts, he has it all.
I'm selling it as I rather want to spend the money on my DR 750
First pic is from the add when I bought it. It was however a pic from its younger days, as you can see from the second pic what it look like when I brought it home.
Here you can see the story of the bike since I bought it https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=156380.0 More detail pics are from Reply #23 and Reply #401 where I started the strip down.
Price is R16 500.00
