We went on a little ride this morning and as there was loads of rain yesterday there was a fair amount of mud too.

Everything was fine until we hit a fairly large patch of mud, Li was right behind me and when she hit the mud she reacted quickly and opened up straight away. Over the intercom she yells "I'm falling I'm falling" and "get out the way get out the way" I look back just in time to see her heading for the back of me with the throttle pinned open. Her instincts and my training paid off as she made it out without coming off, but In my haste to get out of her way I had to swerve into a huge pile of mud and I went down!

Bike landed on my leg but its just a little bruised,

The Bike was not so lucky,
Cracked and scratched side fairing and a Bent rear brake lever and broken rear brake bracket  :'(
I read about this inherent weakness on the KLR and I must agree, It wasn't a huge fall and it was in soft mud but the bracket snapped in two.

So now I need a new bracket and brake lever.

I had a look at the aftermarket ones and I will definitely go that route but I don't want to wait 3 weeks to ride my bike.
Do I get a Kawa part (How much are they?) temporarily?, Does anyone locally make or carry stock of a better replacement unit?

Does anyone here have a older unit for sale?

I have been checking with Bikegear for months now to get the crash bars but still no stock  Crash bars would have saved me a lot of headaches.
Is there no where else locally I can get crash bars?

Thanks

Jules
