Eiish thats me finally home from one of the best weekends ive had in ages.
Arranged with KLR Central to have the doo installed yesterday. First '08 to be popped in that famous garage - only found this out half way through the job - hahahaha, but i had no fears, i knew i was in good hands. Very easy job IF you have the tools and the know how. I never would have been able to do it had i been on my own.
Got a few bolts swopped out for stronger ones, a bit of lock tight here and there and a set of foot pegs complementary to the new crash bars. What a difference they made on the ride home. It felt so lekker riding home on a KLR like i was cruzing on a harley ;D
Did the doo make a difference, YES.
Its a 114Km to Groenies from my place and i rode highway all the way. You tend to listen to the drone of the engine on such a crappy ride. Driving home the bike just sounded so much more healthier. Way less engine noise and a smoother vibration. Not a lot, but you can tell the difference.
Got back to vdbp, picked up the new Penta from the post office - open on Sundays at the local mall. Couldnt fit it till me and my son went out for a ride, hahahaha eeeish we had a jol. He was on his little Zooka 125.
Put the pipe on after a family braai at the g/f's and................ WOW............. Ek ry nou ook n manier van a fiets. Its loud, its very loud, and I LIKE... i LIKE A LOT. I couldnt believe the weight of the old one..... it weighs a ton.
Next up is the 22c mod and the airbox mods. I want my bike to ride like the two green ones i rode on Saturday ;D Now i know how a KLR should ride and be ridden.
I met a bunch of Wild Dogs yesterday and all i can say is top notch, every one of you guys and gals. I had a blast and learnt so much about bikes it is just not funny. Got to sit on a KTM 950 and it scared the shit out of me when i rev'd it. Thats a crotch rocket with nobblies ;D and it was orange
