KLR Radiator switch mod

Hey guys . Have anyone tried drilling and retapping their radiator to a M22x1.5 ? Reason i ask is my fan switch is kaput and stealers price for the fan switch is R 750 ex vat . Now if i drill and tap my radiator then i'd be able to use a common toyota fan switch that is available from midas @ R 110 vat in . The temp range is also 82deg C to 95 deg celcius .

Any input welcomed
