KTM 690 - give it to me straight

Still only dreaming about my next bike but going through list owned, what I like to ride and what is left the 690 keeps featuring. So please inform a Honda fanboy will it leave me stranded in the deep dark forest battling lions and mambas to get back to civilization ? Remember I ride alone. How reliable has yours been ? I was looking at a 2014 model. Other option would be a CRF 300 L or Rally but getting a bit pricey.
