While following the CPMCC national rally on the internet, I found the following.
I am not sure if this only applies to competition licenses.

If you are wearing a helmet for protection - you definitely need the "helmet for your neck" too - the Leatt-Brace!  There are now Nappi codes (medical codes) for all the Leatt-braces, and depending on your medical aid and their policy, you can get your medical aid (e.g. Discovery Health, etc.) to pay for the Leatt-brace.

Most of the medical aids allows for "external medical items" (e.g. knee-, ankle-, neck braces, etc.) with a limit attached thereto.  E.g. with some of the medical plans with Discovery Health, this "external medical items limit" is unlimited and the brace will be paid from your medical savings account - as long as you have funds available in your savings account.  However, with other medical aids, this limit will form part of your complete package.

The following basic steps can be used as a guideline. However, it is important that you first check with your specific medical aid on what their policy and procedure are for paying for the brace:

1.      You will need the following Nappi Codes for the different braces:

Brace type:                      Nappi Code:              Suffix:
Motto GPX Club              454030*001              500
Motto GPX Sport            454043*001              500
Motto GPX Pro                454054*001              500
Motto R Club                    454030*001              501
Motto R Sport                  454043*001              501
Motto R Pro                    454054*001              501

2.      As your medical aid will only pay a qualified medical supplier, your doctor will need to purchase a brace from one of the Leatt dealers.  Refer to the Leatt website (www.leatt-brace.com) for a list of dealers in South Africa. The brace will be offered to any qualified doctor with a practice number at a discounted rate.

3.      The doctor can then issue an invoice with the brace and nappi code at the retail price.  Depending on your medical aid policy and your doctor, you can then pay the doctor directly and your medical aid can refund you for the amount, or the doctor can submit his invoice directly to your medical aid if they are contracted in with your medical aid.

4.      It is also advisable that your doctor writes a motivation and submits that with the invoice, especially if you had any neck injuries in the past.

* The above are merely guidelines and individuals should contact their medical aids to establish how to go about.  These guidelines are based on Discovery Health Medical Aid.
