We did quick a weekend trip at the beginning of April in preperation for our Botswana and Namibia trip coming up in May.
Just me on my 800gs and my dad on his XT 600E.

We went up Sanis Pass on Saturday 2 April, up to Mokhotlong to refuel and down over the Matabeng pass to Sehlabetebe nature reserve to camp for the night. We spent 12 hours on the road on this day to do about 450km of which 110km was tarred. Out at Ramatseliso's gate near Matatiele on Sunday morning.

you could have kept behind that digger - you could go anywhere with that dude

them roads look down right nasty. lovely.

Wow strange how things happen.  We have been planning the exact trip for some time now.  A couple days ago we decided to make it happen.  12 hours is a bit long in the saddle.  Any suggestions on a better overnighter.  I am happy camping in the sticks or was Sehlabathebe worth the chase?  Any other info would be appreciated.  Dean.

You can sleep over at Bob Phillips campsite if you are a few guys, just an open patch of level ground under trees.

Where would I find Bob, more precisely?

Sorry, don't have co-ordinates or something, but it's about halfway between Mokhotlong and Sehlabatebe camp site.

If you're going to do roughly the same route as we did, I recommend you do it in at least 3 days.

Bob is at the bottom of north side of Mathebeng Pass (opposite side from Sehlabathebe), below Mathebeng Village.  There is a camp attendant (Johannes) & you are supposed to pay a minimal fee for use of the site & the long drop.
