I am no Expert to this at all. So maybe my advice is just crap. I dont have a black dog problem, but sometimes do get the depressing feeling, but dont know why. Its like having stress, but there is no reason.

People around you, makes a difference. If someone phones you, and tells you how kak its going in SA bla bla, then on a bike trip a dude will tell how much worries and problems at home he has etc etc. These things work on you. They complain, feel better afterwards, but that complaints/stress/worries somehow moved over to you.

Yes we all vent now and then, all good with that, but if you have a buddy, or work colleague, the moment he opens his mouth, its just complain complain complain, avoid him/her....

When last at a braai, or on a bike trip, did you laugh so much that tears were running?? One hand count? Everyone only mouns lately about everything, or skinners about other peoples problems :devilish:

Was at a function on Friday, 150 people, I knew only 3 of them. Nobody complained, or asked me about my business, or told me about theirs. It was just laughs, pranks on each other, making jokes the whole day long. Fuck it was a jol

Too much silence and time to let your thoughts wonder, is also a bad thing.

Strongs to all!!!

Thanks for your post Pierre

Like you said; you don't have depression and I and everyone else that do suffer from depression are grateful on your behalf.

But please take note; you did not describe depression but just 'people with problems' not knowing how to deal with it.

In some instances there might be a hint of an outcry when someone chooses you to share his innermost hurt and you actually got to be (only if you choose to be) grateful that that person see 'something in you and take you in his or her trust'
You can choose when or if you want to become involved if only to give a bud a pad on the back and tell him strongs.....sometimes that's all they need.

Wrt the gossip and all out negativity I could not agree more mate, move on. We do not need that agree 100.

Just please know that there is a difference, and that people with psychological issues and even disabilities are ill. Yes they might not have the physical visual scars and symptoms that goes with physical disabilities but mental illness is real.

We got to acknowledge and accept it, yet so many people refuse. Also take note that people with real mental disorders do not seek pity but a mere understanding and respect as a human.

Be kind, they do not choose to be that way.
