The mission: two dual sport complete amateurs, attempting to cross South Africa, across the countries widest expanse from West to East, Alexander Bay to Kosi Bay, via Lesotho, touching as few tarmac roads as possible.

Date: Soon! Late March...

We aim to take it easy, get lost a few times, have some great adventures, and see some fantastic places. We are not experienced motobikers, and the bikes we will be using are not fancy.

Our aim: to shoot a video which documents South Africa’s amazing landscapes, as seen from two wheels, and collecting a seriously up-beat soundtrack in the process. Along the way we will be interviewing people we come across, random passers-by, collecting their stories and setting this sound against the images of our trip. We will be asking everyone the same simple question: “what makes you happy?”.

The result, we hope, will be sheer positivity: a trip of a life-time for us, and a collection of stories from those along our wayward path.

Maybe it will not work, maybe it will: but we think we will get happy trying. And hopefully others will get happy watching our video when we are through.

Question: Any good tips on unmissable places, routes? We are planning this on Tracks4Africa... So far we only have the following destinations in mind:

Alexander Bay
Pofadder
Verneuk Pan

then rambling across the flat karoo pleins

LESOTHO
Mohales Neck
Sani Pass

SA
Estcourt
Rorke's Drift (through the old Anglo Zulu battlefields)
St Lucia
Kosi Bay

And we only have 2 weeks: Is this viable?

Thanks a lot.... this forum rocks...
