Making tracks for the Alfie Cox Weekend

The Alfie Cox dual sport Weekend is just over 2 months away, so a few of us went out this weekend to look for a new route between craigieburn and Muden.


Found what looks like a nice route on Google Earth, but as is always the case, what looks nice and flat on GE is often less so when you get there.

Looking forward to seeing my track in real life, 59 km through bush, mountains and rivers  :eek:

Going to be another good one.....  This ride is a highlight every year....  :thumleft:
 
BIGMAC ,JonW,Derrick and myself did a recce ride of the "google earth"plotted route yesterday.Here's what we found.

We had to re route a few times as some of the twee spoor became "snake tracks".

Shew I would love to film that from the air!
 
But in the end we managed to put together a good track .

Thanks Trevor for the help in repairing the clutch, felt a little stiff today will catch up with you for the next ride, I will get your number from Jon to phone when we going again. Cheers.
 
Thanks for the ride guys, was interesting to say the least.

As I said earlier, tracking routes on Google earth you never know what you going to get.

ride started out nice and open, good dirt roads, nice views

Then we got onto some nice rocky paths down into the valley, still easily rideable

Then up out of the valley, a few nice rocky uphills.

From there things started to go downhill and I stopped having so much fun.

After about a km of hauling our bikes over rocks we decided if we carried on any further downhill we wouldn't be able to get up again so we turned around and struggled back up the hill. At this point I left my sense of humour down in the valley where we stopped, so there were no pics for a while  :biggrin:

Anyway, after a bit of bundu bashing we managed to find a route out of there that linked up with a district road.
