The 2011 Maluti Adventure, a rural experience for motorcyclists which coincides with a farm culture festival in the small Eastern Free State town of Colcolan, promises to be a perfect family break-away.
Situated between Bethlehem and Bloemfontein and nestled against the Lesotho border, Clocolan is a four hours drive from Johannesburg and five hours from Durban.
Unlike other bike rallies, the Maluti Adventure offers outrides to exotic locations under the watchful eyes of qualified group leaders, as well as skills workshops for bikers on all levels of experience. Ladies-only outrides and workshops ensure that the fairer sex are also kept involved and there is also a basic skills workshop catering specifically for youngsters.
The farm culture festival also offers a host of entertainment, including traditional farm cuisine, a variety of entertainers, various workshops, an organic market and a number of demonstrations. It also includes a large exhibition of veteran tractors and farm implements.
The Maluti Adventure is jointly organized by local protective gear manufacturer Xkulcha and the Eastern Free State Veteran Tractor and Engine Club.
Prior bookings, including accommodation, will be accepted and will ensure best options on locations. Visitors will be accommodated by local farmers and townspeople, and on game farms and in guest houses. This will offer them the opportunity to experience rural hospitality in true South African tradition. An unlimited number of tickets for day visitors will be on sale at the gates.
