Hi, a few of us are planing a 3 week excursion in the south of Italy next May. Thinking of doing Amalfi coast, Sicily and Sardinia.
Any ideas on the best way to arrange wheels? GS800, GS1200 with panniers or equivalent would be the bikes of choice.
Some crazy ideas have been bandied around:
- Rent bikes (have seen costs of around 80+ EU / day) - eish!
- Ship our own bikes over and back (not sure what that would cost or be required);
- Buy over there, ride and sell (could prove to be a nightmare if things don't work out);
- Buy, ship back and sell here (warranties, import, duties paperwork and other logistical nightmares etc);
Anyone had any experience in biking abroad that didn't break the bank? Your experience is beckoned.
