interesting read especially fernandes comments
Good read indeed. I wonder about RG and RF. A lot of whinging. Perhaps the satellite KTMs do lack spec, but the only satellite teams looking competitive currently are the Ducati teams. Also, I would be very surprised if Herve would have been duped into a contract giving them weaker bikes.

Then again, Petrux and Lecuona were nowhere on them either.

Perhaps this type of talk is why KTM tried so hard to get MO onto a Tech3 bike?

Uncle Espeleta is not the hurdle, Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and lack of budget is.

Uncle Exspeleta wants a truckload of Dollars which we cannot raise locally. He can whisper in the ear of a multinational sponsor if he wants a race here.

We cannot expect government to foot the bill

All I am saying is that for many years in the past the Department has not met the local contributions to hold such events. Yes multinational sponsorship is a must but the government department has not helped in the past as they should.

It would be interesting though to see what the ticketing price schedule would be based on.

Government did fund events in the past, including WSBK around 2010. I believe that to be wrong and therefore do not expect them to do it.

Outside the top ten on the opening day of practice at the Thai MotoGP, Brad Binder feels more is to come after brake pad issues and yellow flags halted his momentum in FP2.
The KTM rider spent most of FP2 inside the top ten after two impressive race runs, however, a crash for Cal Crutchlow at the end of the second MotoGP practice and brake pads opening due to severe shaking aboard his RC16, left Binder down in 13th.

After securing his second podium of the season at the Japanese MotoGP, keeping hold of such momentum is of high priority for the South African, who said ‘we needed this podium desperately and hopefully this is the start of many more’ following last Sunday’s Grand Prix.
But if he’s to do so then making his way into Q2 in Buriram - whether that’s by securing a top ten spot in FP3 which could be wet or by advancing in Q1 - it will be a must for the former Moto3 world champion.

Yep. Big money required.
This has been the issue for many years when people wanted an F1 race in SA.
Not everyone supported the notion, as many people felt that such a large amount of money could be used to sponsor a whole local series. A view that I support

We just lost the 2023 F1 race at Kyalami due to the promoter not being able to supply the required financial guartentees.

The problem with using big bucks for a local series is that we have a complete lack of interest in local racing. I think caused by many years of no TV coverage. Typical chicken / egg situation now. Big sponsorship wants big exposure. There is currently none, but big sponsorship will eventually bring big exposure.
