Howzit guys, any specials or bargains hovering around Black Friday?
Large frame with 120/130 travel.

Considering Scot spark RC/960 or Spez stump jumper to give a price indication.

Ive seen these but all still somewhat pricey.

Im only buying next year and not lus for 2nd hand unless its a demo type bike from a shop.

In alloy sub 50K category:

1. Scott spark 960  - https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/mtb/products/scott-spark-960-2022
2. Stump jumper alloy - https://www.specialized.com/za/en/stumpjumper-alloy/p/199784?color=320393-199784

In carbon sub 70K category:

1. Scott spark RC comp - https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/mtb/products/copy-of-scott-spark-rc-comp-2022
2. Epic Evo - https://www.specialized.com/za/en/epic-evo/p/199654?color=319955-199654

Points for consideration:

In category 1:

The stump jumper has tektro brakes but it does have a little extra travel for the odd spirited occasion.
Scott 960 is very closely specced to the Epic evo and makes me wonder if the extra 15K is worth the name and the carbon frame of the Epic?

In Category 2:

Fox vs Rocshox & Shimano vs SRAM
Epic is 5K cheaper than the Scott but the Scott is great looking and also not a Spez :imaposer:

Only other points for consideration would be:
1. Moving to Salt Rock so ill be riding Holla trails often
2. 181cm
3. 85kg
4. Large frame

These Specialized stumpjumpers were on special but is now sold out. I missed out as well. ST have 130mm travel front and 120 back, the normal one 150mm front and back.

Those were the 2018 models, hence te price cut.  Alloy for 43K is the latest model.

Yes but those were carbon frames with much higher spec group set, suspension, brakes and rims. Comparing a polo against a GTI. The new alloy colour however is beautiful. :thumleft:

Hier is die nuwe carbon pappa - https://www.specialized.com/za/en/stumpjumper-evo-comp/p/199749/specs

So I got a Trek and really like the bike!!!

I'm looking for a descent light for riding jeep tracks in the dark, what to get? There are lots on Takelot but I don't know the brands and don't really trust the specs given.

I would also appreciate advice on what computer to get, nothing fancy (IE no GPS and stuff needed), just good quality wireless.

Advice will be greatly appreciated

If you don't need GPS, routes, etc on the computer, what exactly do you need the computer for?

Distance speed calories and odo
Not sure about the calories but the distance and odo is available on pretty much all the cheapest wireless ones. My wife bought one from Decathlon that works well but I would not be comfortable taking it out on the trails that I like riding.
