My Bike Is Back Firing

Doc as discussed with you on the phone yesterday concerning my dilemma, I some how did not tighten the bolt/screw properly that holds the air box cover on were the air filter is located and as a result it came off and sat in my side cover "luckily it stayed there" as you said.
I suspect this was the cause of the problem of the back firing as too much air was available .
I put my spare clean Air Filter in, cleaned the air box, closed the cover and secured it properly but to my disappointment the back firing still persists.
I have tried to Google the darn thing and I have had no joy, I am really concerned that I have damaged some thing as I have just installed the big bore kit.
If any one else has some info please feel free to HELP as I am very worried I might have to buy a Yamaha or even worse a KTM :crybaby2: :crybaby2:
