Hi! We are trying to plan a vacation for a family of five to Namaqualand to celebrate my oldest daughter's graduation from high school. It looks like the dates we can get away are approximately 26 August to 1 September. We are looking for self-catering accommodation on a bit of a budget. We'll be driving a Nissan X-trail, so gravel roads are ok, but not off road/4x4. We've gotten a few different opinions ranging from "You should have already planned and booked a place to stay last year," to "Be flexible. Just go where the flowers are; you won't have any trouble finding a place to stay each night."

I do understand that the flowers are unpredictable. Can anyone share any advice? Recommend places to stay that aren't too expensive?

Thank you so much for your help!
