Had a long chat with Maudie at Bushwacked to check on arrangements etc.

All is going well and they are very excited to receive us there!

RIVER SWIMMING

There has been a flood over the rainy season and she says they can not say how the state of the river bed has changed below water level. Submerged tree trunks, rocks etc.

Swimming is a must she says. Water is great. :thumleft:

BUT PLEASE. DO NOT JUMP/DIVE INTO THE RIVER!.

The nearest hospital is 100km away. We don't want to see people travel safely for hundreds/thousands of kilometer to get to the bash only to hurt themselves by a silly mistake onsite.

We are not there to guard/play nanny to you. It goes against the spirit of what we stand for but this is important for your own safety. 8)

MUGGIES/LITTLE FLYING BUGS ???

Rickus said:
Die muggies gaan ons opfok :deal:.....take allot of insect repellant with!!! Water Affairs have not done any muggie management in the Orange river area as yet (should have been done 3 wks ago allready) apparently the chopper that they do the spraying with is not opperational and there is no money to fix it. In Upington and lower areas next to the river it is almost unbearable at the moment. P.S it is a well known fact that the colour ORANGE is a very good natural muggie deterrant... :deal:

As Rickus said, Maudie confirmed the muggies problem. Not as bad as a few weeks ago but can still be irritating. Yesterday (27/09) they did not have any muggies but it differes from day to day. Remember Tabard etc!.

SUNBLOCK

Please take Sunblock. Maudie says not sun tanning lotion.  ::) SUNBLOCK!!!

ONSITE ARRANGEMENTS

1. Bikes get preference for camping space. Vehicles and trailers will have designated parking space.

2. We will have a registration desk on Friday afternoon. Hopefully we can start at about 16H00 latest. You go to the desk, we check you against our list, (paid up or not etc) and you get a package consisting of: T-Shirt. Bash sticker. Braai pack tickets. Lucky draw ticket. Without your tickets, you won't be able to collect your braai packs!

3. Then there will be a collection point for the braai packs. Right next to the registration table. You move from the registration table and collect your braai pack for FRIDAY night. Can collect Saturday's as well if you want but no need. We will have another session on Saturday afternoon for Saturday's braai packs. Without your tickets, you won't be able to collect your braai packs! Same goes for the lucky draw. So keep those tickets in a safe place. :thumleft:

4. There will be paper plates, plastic knives and forks and servette available if you want to use it.

5. Bykosse for both nights are aartappel slaai, mengel/tamatie slaai and pap & sous. We need someone to assist us in making the pap. Volunteers?

6. Braai's will be available with wood and charcoal. I'm not sure on how the camping outlay is but we will try and centralize the braai area where we can kuier together.

In addtion, we have demarcated a River Pisser site. It is down stream at the SE Club site.

Min dae! :ricky: :ricky:
