Woke up this morning to hippos grunting in the river at Nunda Lodge in Northern Namibia, happy happy, then I get the news that there has been a new Covid variant detected here and flights out of this part of the world have been cancelled. Not so happy happy! Usual knee jerk shit from the UK's comedy government.
Question is, we are supposed to cross tomorrow into Botswana at the Mohembo border, have a few nights (Tsodilo, Maun, Ghanzi) before re-entering Namibia and then continuing south to South Africa. Is it wise to cross into Botswana? We are in a nice spot here and could rejig the route to pick up the original itinerary in Nam Don't want to get stuck in Bots.
Any advice or opinions welcome, I'd like to know what happened with borders last time and travel restrictions.
