Today, I?m traveling down the M2 in JHB, a guy on a scooter is behind me, changes into the fast lane, all clear for him, he is cruising quite comfortably past me, riding in the first 15% of the lane. Some dude in a 5 series Beemer PUSHES past this guy on the scooter, causing the scooter guy to catch a serious fright! The scooter guy had nowhere else to go, my lane was full of cars.
I catch up to the dude in the 5 series as he takes the same offramp as I do, I pull up next to him, (I am in my car, not on a bike) and I tell him what he did to that guy on the scooter was very dangerous and quite stupid! This dude proceeds to tell me that a NEW LAW has just come out stating that a scooter/motorbike MUST ride in the CENTRE of a lane, not off to one side of it! I tell him he is talking crap, where is all the oil on a road, how is a bike rider supposed to avoid a collision, since when did this law come out, etc. etc.
The robot turns green and this dude takes off just as I am telling him that I hope he is subject to a truck driver with the same attitude as his one day!!!!
Has the law changed? Are we missing something here???
