For a while now I have sometimes a problem that I can't go to 3rd gear from 2nd. I then have to peddle back to neutral or 1st and then try again. It's doing more now, it's getting dangerous in traffic not going to 3rd.
BMW says it is the selector drum that might be worn, somebody else said it's a spring that needs replacement. If it's the spring, shouldn't it do it with all gears?
I've also got that clunking sound when in neutral with clutch out, but quieter when the clutch is pulled.
First, to the rectify the gear change problem, what do you suggest?
If I've got that other problems also, should I just pull out the gearbox and have it all fixed?
