Had a scenario that my 1150 started spilling oil from the oil filler cap, Checked it out and found that the oil filler assembly was somewhat lose.
Now this is not the best design from BMW in my eyes but hey I have the bike and have to ride it.
1st concern was that it could be serious but then found that it is a well known problem.
Recommendations differ but this was my route.
Went to BMW and got the parts. 2 X Orings (Big one for the filler assembly and 1 for the cap.) 1 X Oil filler assembly.
Went home left the bike to cool down.
Remove the cap and pull the oil filler assembly from the pod with my finger.
On the new assembly just smoothed out the ridge from the molding that was left to ensure the O-ring fit tightly.
Pushed it back in with the new O-ring and Assembly with not too much sweat. (Push it as much as possible with your finger) Take a big socket and just secure it in it's position. Just use a few gentle blows and do not " moer" it in and break the assembly.
Put the new O-ring on the Cap and you are done.
Less then 5 minutes and under R75-00
Hope this helps.
