Been looking into these recently, wondering if anybody has any experience with these units? (General info, not (yet) looking for specific product info.)

I understand SA is busy setting up infrastructure to support land-based use of these units - an option to keep in mind when heading out of cellphone range.

Costs I have so far vary from R5k-R7.5k per unit (McMurdo) (depending on whether or not you take the GPS option) and R350 licensing/registration fee with ICASA.
