Most of us on a few days trip would like to get back to something a bit cleverer than our GPS unit and will carry a netbook. However, the DC powersupply is rated at 17-19v and a lot of us carry an inverter to go 12v battery/240v/17v. However, I have found that my Gigabyte netbook is happy to run off a well charged motorcycle battery and will even charge the internal batteries, although very slowly. I say well charged because it will revert to the internal batteries at around 12.4v. This does not apply to all devices, my Acer laptop is just not interested in running off 13.8v or below. PS I had to have a bit of a rummage in my spares bin to find the right plug. Ian
