This is a 1979 model R100RT. The engine was redone by a company specialising in the rebuilt of BMW bikes.

I am doing the putting together of it all.

The frame had been powder coated.

As in my previous restoration of an R100S, I again shall focus on pictures. I am, like most of you are, acquainted to well acquainted with the technical know-how (and some of you much better than me). As I do not do this on a daily basis, I need so every now and zen a memory refresher. That is where the pictures come in.

I know what to do, what is expected, but exactly where does what go is often the question. The manuals, and I have a few, tend to be tedious and long winding, never getting to the point. Telling me everything that I do not want to know. And don’t even mention Snowbum – I only make use of him if in extreme cases and then together with an original Ströh Rum. I just want to know that one particular little thing, like where or which wire. Even if I fast forward the manual, it doesn’t help much and I don’t want to read through seven paragraphs and still not know the answer to my question.

That is where the internet comes in and I search for pictures dealing the problem I am facing. Hoping that I shall find that one picture that explains it all to me. I am not always successful. Often I find that people post all types of photos (even the pistons of Pamela Anderson), but somehow cut or crop that specific part of the bike I am interested in. Damned.

By going about this way I hope and trust that I may be of assistance to people in similar situations. Who only need that one picture to clear the fog.
