R1100GS Cut out after going through water

Hi guys just took the  big step getting a 1988 R1100Gs On my first trip to the Baviaans kloof Going through water the bike cut out 30m on the other side. No spark and no fuel. Anny advice.
I also discovered my rear shock is done and got a shock when i heard the price of a new one.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
