I have thought about this for a while, I already know of two other 1150's fitted with 1100 Final Drives and both owners (Travelant and Volroom) both love it.
So I had the opportunity to score an 1100 FD so thought, lets try it 8) to explain, most owners agree that the 1150GS has too high a first gear particularly for even semi technical off road and the overdrive 6th is too overgeared particularly at Reef altitudes.
The 115 FD is a 31/11 ratio and the 1100 a 33/11, so only a 6.5% difference, this drops first to roughly half way between a GS and a GSA first and similarly the 6th still higher than a GSA but below the GS if I have my numbers correct.
The fitting as a straight swap, no mods or anything required, I have not had time to try it out properly, but from first rides, the 6.5% makes way more difference than you might expect, I think I will like this. :biggrin: 8)
